It is interesting reading (64 pages).

Army Finds 94 Cases of Prisoner Abuse

"

An internal U.S. Army probe initiated after reports of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib in Iraq found 94 cases of abuse - including 39 deaths - in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
WASHINGTON, July 23 (MASNET & News Agencies) - A U.S. army probe has so far unearthed 94 cases of abuse of detainees at U.S.-run military prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan, Pentagon officials said.

The findings by the army's inspector general were made public Thursday at a hearing of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, reports Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The report evaluated prisoner detention and interrogation operations in Iraq and Afghanistan producing evidence of physical and sexual abuse, and 39 detainee deaths, reports Reuters news agency.

Acting Army Secretary Les Brownlee told lawmakers that between October 2001 and early June 2004 Army Inspector Lieutenant General Paul Mikolashek uncovered 94 cases of "confirmed or possible abuse of any type, which include theft, physical assault, sexual assault and death."

"The army has initiated criminal investigations into these allegations and, where appropriate, legal action has been and will be taken," Brownlee told the panel, emphasizing that the abuse was in direct violation of army regulations.

In the reports, Mikolashek described a series of shortcomings, including ambiguous policies and unclear responsibilities for troops.

The probe blamed "a few individuals" and not the military leadership - a finding Senate Democrats called hard to believe, reports Reuters.

"These actions, while regrettable, are aberrations," said Brownlee.

Mikolashek's report faulted the military for failing to "clearly specify" the roles of military intelligence and military police.

"These incidents resulted from the failure of individuals to follow known standards of discipline and army values and, in some cases, the failure of a few leaders to enforce those standards of discipline," said Brownlee."
-----------------SNIP-----------------
Excuse me while I claw my way out from under this mountain of BULLSHIT!

Look, this cannot be excused by calling it a "failure to follow known standards". Calling it a failure is equating it to an electrical system that blows a fuse...or metal that undergoes stress failure. Seymour Hersh reports seeing video of young boys sodomized/raped by American soldiers at Abu G prison. Sadistic rape, and even murder ( some have said that at least one prisoner was murdered) is not just a friggin' "FAILURE"...sadistic rape is a CRIME..is INTENTIONAL, and NOT ACCIDENTAL NOR A SIMPLE "FAILURE".

Having a taillight on your car blow out may be a "failure", but abuse of other humans is NOT just a "failure" and we as citizens CANNOT have a whitewash happen here! Demand that
the government quit saying SHIT like this was a "Failure" or this "happened in the middle of a rumble" . BULLSHIT! This was criminal activity carried out in the name of our government on citizens of another country. Demand accountability.

By Elizabeth Wine in New York

US investors' worries about a corporate slowdown increased this week as earnings reports revealed generally cautious guidance for the second half.

Stocks fell sharply on Friday after a volatile week that saw the Nasdaq twice skid to a year-low and the Dow drop below 10,000. It was the fifth consecutive week of losses for the Dow and the sixth for the S&P 500. The Dow had fallen 0.8 per cent to 9,962.22 by the close, putting it down 1.8 per cent for the week. The S&P 500 fell 1 per cent to 1,086.20, leaving it with losses of 1.4 per cent for the week. The Nasdaq dropped 2.1 per cent to 1,849.09 for a 1.8 per cent fall on the week.

But Lord Bush promised us we have a great economy with
Steady Growth....Don't tell me he intentionally LIED....
Well..his lips WERE moving.....

Look, regular blog readers will KNOW I've been using terms
such as "THE BIG LIE" and the more colorful, "BULLSHIT"
to describe this fiction that the media and the administration
continues to promote.

Look at this
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/07/08/terminating.jobs/index.html
"(CNN) -- California has devised a new plan to help solve its ongoing budget crisis. But while that plan might save California millions of dollars in the next fiscal year, there's a good chance it will leave some of the state's own residents waving goodbye to their jobs.
California recently signed a contract with a Canadian-owned consulting firm, which could recommend that the state export some taxpayer-financed government jobs to cheap foreign labor markets.  Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared shortly after his inauguration that he would not rest until California was "a competitive job-creating machine.""

But, our neighbor to the South is feeling the perils of rising unemployment....

"

The images were vivid: A U.S. Army sergeant who told his troops to "rough up" two prisoners; a platoon that agreed to make prisoners jump off a bridge into the Tigris River; an interrogator who hit a prisoner in the head.
Those were among the new details of abuses by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan reported by the Army Inspector General's office. The review found 94 cases of confirmed or alleged abuses and 39 deaths, 20 of which were ruled homicides or remain under investigation.
Still, Army Inspector General Lt. Gen. Paul Mikolashek concluded in Thursday's report that the abuses were the work of rule-breaking soldiers and a few officers and not the fault of Army rules or training.
Senate Democrats, pointing to deficiencies in training and inconsistencies in doctrine outlined in the Army report, immediately challenged the findings.
"It is difficult to believe there were not systemic problems with our detention and interrogation operations," Michigan Sen. Carl Levin, top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said at a hastily called hearing.
Army Chief of Staff Gen. Peter Schoomaker said mistakes were understandable, though not excusable. Troops must be trained to contain their anger at prisoners who had been trying to kill them, he said.
"It's in the middle of a rumble that this is happening," Schoomaker said."
=======================SNIP=========================
"MIDDLE OF A RUMBLE"??????!!!!!!
This isn't the Sharks and the Jets you friggin' MORON!
I don't recall West Side Story having young boy prisoners being sodomized and that
being filmed (per Seymour Hersh's report).

Schoomaker needs to be put making Schoos...and get the HELL out of ANY
position of responsbility!

Irresponsibility Rules on Capitol Hill

Irresponsibility Rules on Capitol HillBy JAY AMBROSEJul 23, 2004, 07:22

Suppose officials at a football game didn't call a single foul, but afterward issued a press release saying they had never seen such a foul-filled game and that the two teams ought to be ashamed of themselves. You'd figure that was peculiar, right?
Something comparable recently happened in the nation's capital when the Senate Intelligence Committee issued a report saying the CIA had done a truly lousy job of gathering intelligence about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The charge seems true enough, although it follows that the Senate Intelligence Committee has been doing a truly lousy job. The committee has a watchdog function. It is supposed to bark when the CIA messes up, and the fact is, it had not previously been doing much barking.
Anybody who keeps a close eye on Congress knows this much about many (though certainly not all) of its members: Their irresponsibility is shocking. Thus -- to pick just a couple of examples -- Congress has let Social Security and Medicare slide toward crisis and has abetted the administration in an unconscionable spending spree. When pressed to account for themselves, members have all sorts of dodges -- blame the other party or the executive branch or explain away a stupid vote by pointing to fringe issues that are beside the point. Bush's Missing Military Records Surface But Answers Still Missing

"The Pentagon on Friday released newly discovered payroll records from President Bush's 1972 service in the Alabama National Guard, though the records shed no new light on the future president's activities during that summer.
A Pentagon official said the earlier contention that the records were destroyed was an "inadvertent oversight."
Like records released earlier by the White House, these computerized payroll records show no indication Bush drilled with the Alabama unit during July, August and September of 1972. Pay records covering all of 1972, released previously, also indicated no guard service for Bush during those three months."
================snip======================
So now, we find out that this notion they were "accidentally destroyed" is now ANOTHER LIE.
Now they say that saying the records were destroyed, as an "inadvertent oversight"! This is priceless....if you start examining the press releases from DAY ONE of Bush's administration...especially in the last few months...one is struck by the common usage of terms
like "accidental", "inadvertent", "accidentally"... I guess that the administration would rather look like bumbling idiots rather than intentional knaves and crooks.

We can't afford to have either outright knaves and crooks or bumbling idiots run this country any longer. The people who have lost their jobs, homes, insurance, businesses, etc., on this moron's watch can't afford it....the people who have lose their son, husband, father, mother in this war, dictated by this idiot....this President Queeg, this Emperor with No Clothes....
this Madness of King George the W...cannot afford FOUR MORE WARS...from
George War Bush.

Beating a Dead Horse

I was away from the computer this weekend...but couldn't escape politics.

A person who is supposed to be a professional person, was doing a presentation at a seminar I was attending. They started doing a VERY LAME imitation of President Clinton. I couldn't help myself from shouting out that they should instead do a lame impression of Dubya because the material was much better...they could just quote his statement that "it will require time to restore chaos"....they said they could do Kerry instead, and I said any attempt at doing a lame standup would be better if he would do Rumsfeld with his "there are known knowns and known unknowns...things we know.." yada yada yada...or I pointed out he could do an imitation of
John "Let the Eagle Soar" Ashcroft, and babble on senselessly.

I noted that the friggin' idiot that was doing this, was not getting ANY laughter...just dead silence. I advised he shouldn't quit his day job. He also kept interjecting these comments about God and the Bible...but then said today was his and his wife's anniversary, and he would
have to get home to "take care of his wife"...he further went on to make various sexist, and
sexual innuendo jokes and comments during this presentation.

I said all this to make some observations. Number one, the Repubs who hold Bush up as their hero, are renewing their hateful comments and derision of Mr. Clinton, as the only way of trying to counter the rising waves of discontent in this country, and the questions being raised about the things the administration is doing.

We didn't have 9/11, the tragedy on Mr. Clinton's watch. We didn't have the Patriot Act, or TIPS or "free speech zones" on Mr. Clinton's watch. We didn't lose over a million jobs on his watch...we ended up with a SURPLUS instead of a giant deficit.

This president (Bush league Junior) took a vital country and has run it into the ground.
He has overseen the robbing of our rights, he and his crew have tried to turn us into a nation of snitches and stool pidgeons under a program (TIPS) run by a convicted felon,
John Poindexter. This country is like a fine limo that was turned over to an idiot, who has crashed it into things, let it run dry of oil, and now, is flooring the accelerator, and heading us at full speed, sputtering and creaking and clanking toward the edge of a cliff.

So, you Repubs....time to quit making fun of a past president, when you have the Killer Klown from Space doing a krazy kamikaze run with the whole country.

God Bless America. God Bless Our Troops. Vote the Retard out of the Presidency!
