Gannon appeared in White House before Talon News existed

RAW STORY

The conservative reporter-prostitute writing under the pseudonym Jeff Gannon appeared in the White House briefing room before his known media outlet was even created, progressive bloggers have found.

Guckert told Editor and Publisher he first attended a presidential press conference in April 2003, he said, just weeks after starting with Talon News. He also said he attended another, for which he cannot recall the date, prior to the late-January conference that brought him to public attention, but his description–of asking President Bush a question–does not fit with his appearance in late February.

This from the White House press office transcript of Feb. 28, 2003. Gannon bragged of asking the question in comments he posted online Mar. 5, 2003.

This is a question I asked Ari Fleischer at a White House press briefing on Friday:

[Gannon}: There have been reports out of Maine that the children of deployed service personnel are being harassed as a result of their elementary school teacher’s

expression of anti-war views in the classroom. Could you comment on that?

MR. FLEISCHER: I’m not familiar with any specific report, but I can assure you that the President, in all instances, believes that it’s important for all to honor and respect the first amendment.

Not the answer I was looking for, but at least I was able to get the issue in front of the mainstream press.

Readers can watch the screen grab from the C-SPAN Web site’s White House Daily Briefing (RealVideo here; click briefing for Feb. 28, 2003). Gannon asks the question at 32:05 during the briefing video.

So he pre-dates (pun mostly unintended) McClellan?

I bet somebody out in Intenet Land knows the “Washinton DC Boy/Toy Rental Business” really, really well?

TIME TO STEP FORWARD AND SAVE AMERICA!!!

All a good reporter has to do is go to some of the gay clubs in DC and find a few of the people who know Gannon, Rove, Bush - and there are probably a few of them around–enough to tell a good story

Somebody needs to ask Ari what he did know about these shenanigans. The way he resigned so quickly is highly suspicious, particularly in light of all these revelations, which now predate the time he resigned.

Pretty safe to say he was playing with some higher ups at the WH.

I don’t know any gay men desperate enough to pay for a guy who looks like that. But then, who knows what goes through the mind of a gay Republican. Not much, apparently.

I am wondering what the consequences of all this could be!

Reflecting back, remember the relentless media badgering mike mccurry over how many times Jon Ho? signed in and out of the whitehouse, not realizing that there were two china men with the same name? The controversy over Ho’s contributions to Clinton were deemed contributions from a foreign country and that this guy also had a checkered past. Remember Orin Hatch & al D’Amato holding daily press conferences on the meer fact that this sub-standard character was in our whitehouse…. they said all that with such dignity and righteousness!

I think we need a Ken Starr character to research all these latest breaches of paying reporters for espousing Bushy’s point of view etc.

The puzzle is, if this Gannon/Guckert is someone’s toy boy, why have such a high profile ? Shirley he wld be kept in the shadders ? Also, I want (say) a plant in the WH press corps, do I go for a regular small time small town guy anxious for the bread or some dumbass military guy hustling his butt, complete with pics, on the Internet , who cannot keep his mouth shut ?

The Dems better keep on this one. And all aspects of it, including the sexual aspect, and if there may be “higher-ups” in the GOP involved in this. Obviously, there are “higher-ups” involved, we just haven’t heard about it yet.

Comment by big dan — 2/17/2005 @ 7:32 am

What is it going to take for the MSM to start reporting this story? Everyday it seems something new is dug up about this Gannon/Guckert guy and yet i don’t see any in depth reporting of it in the MSM. Doesn’t it bother them that this guy apparently got into the White House press room without even belonging to a news organization while running an escort service?

Comment by Barry — 2/17/2005 @ 9:47 am

The extent of actual MSM press on this issue is directly proportional to the percentage of “liberal media” the right claims owns this country. Since this broke I’ve heard maybe 5 % coverage of this in all media. This clearly shows who owns the bias in this country!!

Comment by steve — 2/17/2005 @ 10:02 am

The amount of fake news coming from the White House is very alarming. Consider this Jeff Gannon/Jim Guckert, Armstong $240,000 Williams, the fake Medicare prescription drug info packets with Karen Ryan/Albert Garcia. How much more filth lies in the White House? The Dems and especially Howard Dean need to pounce on this one.

Comment by ChristianLeftie — 2/17/2005 @ 10:38 am

I doubt if this guy is really gay - probably involved in some form of govt. intel. The porn sites were probably just fishing for dirt on people to blackmail them with. They didn’t expect bloggers to connect the dots.

Comment by anaymous — 2/17/2005 @ 12:01 pm

Is this the same John Kerry and the Democrats that stood by and endorsed the mass murder of 3000 American civilians when the White House Administration flew a military cargo plane into the Reichstag 2 Tower and then flew a Guided Missile into the Pentabunker?
I mean how does a Boeing 757 fit through a 12 foot hole at the Pentabunker and if the plane that supposedly hit Reichstag 2 was grounded at Cleveland under a phony bomb scare, then what did hit Reichstag 2?
Americans are at threat from terrorists, American terrorists, residing in the White House and it would appear from the blind eye turned to the post 9 11 whitewashes that they are abetted by the whole Congress, the CIA and the FBI.
The argument of whether the authorities knew of plots to hijack commercial airliners is denied of sorts because this is the base for which the CIA plot was conceived, it could not just come out of the blue, there had to be tangible history to make it sell.
In a non fascist country the opposition would have been ‘screaming and kicking’ all the way but in America after two gerrymandered elections and the greatest terrorist strike against its own citizens the opposition just calmly steps aside. Thus endorsing the fact that America is a single party state but because it is America they have to have two parties.
You may choose to fool yourselves, that is your prerogative, but it is only you that is fooled, the rest of the World is just sickened by these bastards.

Comment by green nigel — 2/17/2005 @ 1:05 pm

I e mailed the Arizona “Republican” newspaper this morning and asked why they were not covering this under breaking news. After all a man got within 10 feet of “my president” who is a questionable subject at best and I am very concerned about national security and security at the WH. HA, HA, HA

Also heard on Randi Rhodes last night that one of the bloggers had identified a woman working in the WH whose husband is a big contributer to the republicans. Obviously, someone vouched for this criminal to get him that close to the president.

After all, this administration produces EVERYTHING. It is like watching a play. Screening reporters and their questions, screening every person that goes to a bush rally, never letting any bad news get close to bush.

Come on dems, we need to find get this out to the media and keep on them to get to the bottom of Gannongate, aka gayhogate.

Green Nigel,

Please get some help for the delusions you are having. I haven’t heard anything this crazy since I went to GG park and listened to the ravings of a madman. Your delusions are laughable, but I suspect you are suffering greatly. There are some good meds out there… Please get some help…
